Challenge

Our client, a major International Data Centre provider was preparing to upgrade and extend the capacity of an existing hyperscale data centre in Europe. They required a technical partner with specialist knowledge of major hazards, construction sites, Data Centres and HSE to support them onsite during the planning, construction and commissioning of the upgraded facility.

Approach

Acting as the clients Construction Site HSE Services partner, we provided local, onsite HSE services and site supervision support to oversee, monitor and support the General Contractor during the construction and commissioning phase of the data centre.

The role of the HSE services partner was to deliver HSE excellence on a pro-active basis, supporting and reinforcing a positive safety culture.

Our approach was to influence the safety practices of the GC contractor through coaching, setting of performance expectations and reporting so as to ensure that activities were conducted as safely as reasonably practicable.

Solution

Telos provides its experience of major hazard industry and applies it to benefit an industry that wants to work to high standards.

Our team used their knowledge of major hazard industry best practices to help our client implement its own management system effectively, to establish local onsite procedures and to manage risks such as heavy lifting in a safe manner.

Outcome

The Telos team were able to safely manage the site upgrade and modifications effectively, demonstrating continual improvement throughout, and with no harm or incidents recorded.

With our support, we were able to assure our clients reputation during the 12 months of high risk on-site activities, on a live-data centre site, allowing our client to continue to deliver for their end-client with no interruptions to performance or delivery.
