Challenge

Our client – a major International Hyperscale Data Centre provider, wanted to improve the Health and Safety performance during operations and maintenance activities undertaken across their various facilities in the EMEA region.

The client operated in 9+ countries across Europe with differing levels of local governance, corporate expectation and workforce competence.

Health and Safety risk assessment expectations and behaviours amongst the workforce was not standard nor consistent.

Approach

Telos project team coordinated the development and implementation of a tailored training program to achieve standardisation and improvement in the above objectives.

To ensure the program success, a number of continual improvement practices were required. This included feedback forms filled in by the trainees at the end of each session, regular internal Telos debriefs between trainers and project manager and weekly progress meetings with client.

Solution

The training package included two modules, one in Hazard and Risk management awareness, and a second one on Dynamic Risk Assessment. Due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions in place at the time, the training has been delivered to small groups over Teams, in multiple languages.

The training sessions were interactive with trainee’s participation encouraged. Pictures from the client site were used to support hazard identification exercises.

At the end of each sessions, participants were required to fill in an on-line comprehension assessment.

Outcome

The team successfully trained over 500 of our client’s personnel over two sessions, in nine countries.

All trainees undertook comprehension assessments, achieving average pass marks of over 85%.

A standardised approach to risk assessment was introduced across the clients operating region.
