Challenge

Our client is a significant Oil and Gas Operator on the UKCS undertaking a large amount of decommissioning activity in 2021 and beyond. As part of its regulatory commitments and waste duty of care requirements, they needed to undertake a thorough audit and review of the management system and operational facilities of a large UK based decommissioning yard.

Approach

Given the number of stakeholders involved in the delivery of this work, the Telos auditors used their many years of experience to liaise with the correct people to get as much information in advance as possible to make best use of the limited time on site and get insights into what to look for and questions to ask the staff.

Solution

Given the scale of the site, the Telos auditors were on site for four days undertaking the various scopes which included a detailed review of the management system, associated compliance obligations as well as an assortment of waste duty of care documentation from the various contractors. A thorough review of the site was undertaken from the intake of wastes, right through to dismantling and onward disposal of the various waste streams.

Outcome

The Telos team turned around the audit in a tight timeframe and were commended by the client on the quality of the audit and in particular the professionalism and approach to the site based aspect of the audit and the closing meeting.
