Challenge

Following recent acquisitions, our client requested our support to help transform and standardise their Drilling and Wells management system and governance processes across its operating regions.

Approach

Working in partnership with our client, we identified and mapped out the critical factors for success, identifying the key drivers and areas of focus, essentially, a need to ensure standardisation of governance across the group for activities typical for each region.

  • Management System Framework
  • Drilling and Wells Process
  • Risk Management
  • Management of Change
  • Drilling and Wells Assurance

Solution

We facilitated several workshops within the Drilling & Wells leadership team, which were critical in the ability to achieve alignment across the group.

Through the workshops and dialogue, we mapped a common vocabulary and understanding of terminology, processes, and practices.

We conducted a review of existing, legacy management system documents, identifying core areas to retain, as well as opportunities for rationalisation, improvement and further development.

In conjunction with the project steering committee, we identified and mapped interface points through the drilling and Wells process with other group functions, which were critical to improving efficiency and communication across functions.

Outcome

The Telos team developed four key group level management system documents:

  • Drilling and Wells Management System Manual
  • Risk Management Manual
  • Deviations Manual
  • Drilling and Wells Process Manual

The client was left with a platform and framework through which to develop further specialist drilling and wells governance documents at group level and bring standardisation of practices across the group.
